Local points of interest for non ringers:

  1. Woodstock was a royal manor and formed part of the forest of Wychwood. Henry II had a palace here and the town grew up around the palace to house the court. The palace was damaged in the Civil War. In 1704 Queen Anne presented the manor to John Churchill, 1st Duke of Marlborough, who built Blenheim Palace. There are 3 bells hung for chiming in the tower at Blenheim Palace.
  2. The Woodstock bell foundry was established in or about 1623 by James Keene and continued until the death of Richard Keene in 1704
