At the second meeting in June young ringers from Banbury, Cropredy and Steeple Aston attended

Last Saturday I had the interesting experience of ringing in a new tower. A small group from the Banbury and Cropredy young ringers tried out the bells at Rousham church. The church is in the grounds of Rousham Manor, which are normally a forbidden zone for under 15's. We were allowed through but it's a shame we didn't get a chance to explore the grounds as it all looked very interesting. We started with some basic rounds then moved on to call changes. The church, and tower, are a lot smaller than Cropredy but the bells didn't feel any different. The bells were cast in 1675, except for number four which dates from 1825 - I think this is the one I was ringing. It was good practice ringing in a tower with six bells, rather than eight. Thank you to Brenda and Verna for providing transport and the ringing session, and to Barry for running the practice. Esme Rourke age 13
